Design and construction of the whole installation
The implementation of this innovative system to optimize the treatment of micro pollutants requires working in a full scale wastewater treatment plant, the installation of a semi-industrial pilot plant and the installation of a full scale biological monitoring device to evaluate the endocrine disrupter effect. Small models organisms derived from fish and amphibians, that exploit the physiological pertinence of whole organism approaches, will be used to evaluate the endocrine disruption of the thyroid and estrogenic axis.
The whole system includes:
- A full conventional biological treatment plant for the treatment of raw urban waste water.
- A pilot plant to the combination of physical and chemical technologies to remove micro pollutants that were not removed by biological process.
- A robotized readouts to carry out measurements on small model organisms to evaluate biological effects of treated urban wastewater.
